datac is a 8 bit character
0 (or FALSE) if datac dose not match the criteria, 1 (or TRUE) if datac does
match the criteria.
Tests a character to see if it meets specific criteria as follows:

X is 0..9, 'A'..'Z', or 'a'..'z'
X is 'A'..'Z' or 'a'..'z

X is 'a'..'z'
X is 'A'..'Z
X is a space
X is '0'..'9', 'A'..'F', or 'a'..'f
X is less than a space
X is greater than a space
X is greater than or equal to a space
X is greater than a space and not a
letter or number
